Boat Hire FAQs

Where can we purchase extra supplies ?

There are a number of places where you can stop off & pick up supplies. We also supply some beverages, ice, basic sauces, salt, pepper and disposable crockery and cutlery.

Is fuel included?

Yes. Killcare Marina gives you complimentary fuel for your period of hire.

Do I need a boat Licence?

No you don't require a boat licence. All hirers must be over 18 years of age and must have valid photo ID and proof of age.

Is there mobile phone reception out on the water?

Yes. There is reception in most areas.

How fast do the boats go?

Up to 6 knots (11 kmph), just enough to get you around safely. Approximately 1 nautical mile every 10 minutes.

What do I need to bring?

Food, drinks, towels, sun block, hat, sunglasses. We also suggest a camera, mobile phone, binoculars, fishing gear & a few favourite CD's (BBQ Barge only).

Is it safe to swim?

Common sense is required. Avoid areas of fast flowing tide or high boat traffic. Although its statistically safe, remember this waterway is salt water and connected to the ocean.

I don't have any experience with boats, can I still hire it?

Yes of course, its just forward & reverse & we will give you full operating instructions before you go.

How many people can fit on the boat?

The BBQ Barge is licenced to carry 8 adults, the Boat is licenced to carry 4 adults. Children 12 years & under = 1/2 an adult.

Is Brisbane Water tidal?

Yes it is.

Can I bring my PWC & tie it up?

Check with management first.
